This is a human anatomic iconic map of the 2DWG meta-database 2D protein gel images found on the web. This is for demonstration purposes to indicate future possibilities and is not meant to be a full blown anatomic map. Click on the "+" sign in an organ, and the subset of the 2DWG which has corresponding 2D gel image data will be returned. Only 2D gels with associated protein maps are reported. Note that there are other species and tissues with and without maps in the complete 2DWG and so this does not cover the whole database. Note: Since this map is still under improvement, not all organs labeled in the image are connected to the 2DWG database.
The concept of molecular anatomy was proposed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by Anderson etal. [1-2].
These human anatomical icons for male and female were derived from the Visible Human Simulation server. Because all organs are not visible in these sections, we label the approximate location of where they would be. Additional human body fluids/tissue type are listed and searched separately.
1. Search by clicking on an organ (which has a "+")
Male Female
2. Search by body fluid/tissue type
Or search the 2DWG Database by selecting a body fluid or tissue
type and then clicking on "Get Table Data".

The 2DWG resides on the LECB, NCI/FCRDC web
server.
