4.Web presents both opportunity and challenge for comparing data
- Static Internet data was used in early World Wide Web
browsers Netscape and Mosaic (before JAVA)
- Uses standard client-server HTTP Web paradigm suited for
static documents

- Can't easily interact with data, although
could bring up derived static images
- Internet is too slow to realistically do real-time
interactive processing from the Web server
- Key question: How can we do real-time processing
locally on our computers but use data from the internet
and from our local laboratory?
